The discovery of the source is shrouded in mystery, but it is known that since the sixteenth century the famous thermal waters were exploited for their beneficial qualities. Today its properties are famous all over the world especially for the most exported product of these areas, the Crodino.
Discover the fascinating history of the Terme di Crodo, located in the enchanting Valle Antigoro, a few kilometers from Domodossola.

BETWEEN HISTORY AND MYTH
The history of the Terme di Crodo begins with a legend that dates back to the times of the Crusades. Knights returning from Palestine, destroyed by the war and the hard journey, stopped at Crodo resigned to die. In an attempt to quench their thirst, they drank from the thermal spring and began to feel immediately better. In a short time they were ready to leave.
In reality, the first evidence of the benefits of these waters are in the "proemio to the Statutes of the Valle Antigorio" in 1513, but the birth of a rudimentary spa is only in the nineteenth century. We have to wait until the mid-twentieth century for the construction of an important structure thanks to the entrepreneur Pietro Gnocchi. After a few years, in 1965, the production of mineral water was joined by that of quality drinks, including the famous "blond" aperitif: il Crodino.
Today the baths are located in a large natural park and offer numerous clinical and aesthetic treatments for your well-being.

THE THREE SOURCES
The thermal establishment is fed by three sources that, although very close, have different chemical-physical and curative characteristics. The waters of the Lisiel source are oligomineral, classified among the sulphate-bicarbonate-alkaline-earthy. Its properties act specifically on diuresis, favoring the elimination of uric acids.
The Valle d'Oro and Cistella springs are sulphate-calcium, but they have different beneficial effects. The first one, taken in small doses, is ideal for problems of gastric hyperacidity, while if taken in large quantities it has a marked buffer action. The second one has stimulating effects on the stomach walls and for biliary and cystic activity. Moreover, the good presence of calcium has anti-inflammatory, anticatinal and sedative action of gastric peristalsis.
The waters can be enjoyed in the spa park with free mineral water treatments. These consist of the administration of mineral waters, as a therapy for numerous organic dysfunctions, including liver, bowel and digestive diseases.

The pleasure of staying in Crodo is increased by the proximity of unique artistic and cultural beauties. Among these not to be missed are the Toce Waterfall, the highest in Europe, and the Orridi di Uriezzo, deep cavities in the rock born from the continuous action of the stream. A breathtaking show.
